The best time to visit Longano is the summer. Summers in Longano are very hot. Although there is not much humidity, there is no relief from the dry hot weather. The older houses are not equipped with air conditioners. Highs reach on average 33 C (91 F) or higher depending on the year, while the median 26 C (78 F). Due to being 700 meters above sea level, the temperature always tends to be much cooler at night.

Winters in Longano tend to be long, cold, and even rainy. Some snow is possible depending on the year. The biggest snowfall that Longano received was in February of 2012 when more than 80 centimeters of snow crippled the town. The high during the winter is an average 6 C (42 F) and the low can sometimes drop to -6 C (21 F). There is much to look forward with the arrival of spring in Longano. Springtime revives the town from the long, cold winter. The high reaches about 16 C (60 F) and the low around 11 C (51 F).

Fall is very picturesque in Longano. The leaves turning colors contrast nicely with the terracotta roofs. Highs for this season are around 13 C (55 F) and lows around 9 C (48 C).

Agriculture:

The agriculture in Longano is mainly produced during the summers when families plant and pick potatoes and a variety of vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, and corn.

Around mid November, olives start being picked for the production of olive oil. Every family has their own piece of land around the town or on the mountains and they wait until the olives are mature enough to be picked and then send them to the oil mill to be processed and ultimately have the fresh tasting extra virgin olive oil Italy is known for.
