What to See in Molise:
The Lake at Castel San Vincenzo is an artificial lake built in the 1950’s for hydroelectric purposes. While visiting this lake you can take a walk along the trails, ride on the pedalò (a pedal boat), ride horses, have lunch at the bar/pizzeria, and even camp out on their campground. It feels like a beach in the mountains because of its location in between the Matese mountains.
Isernia- the closest city to Longano filled with stores and history. It is famous for the fountain located in the old town section called Fontana Fraterna. It was built in 1835 and has a Roman influence to it. Every Thursday and Saturday mornings in the centro storico, or old center, a market takes place. There are fruit and vegetable vendors, clothes, and houseware vendors that you can buy from.
Fonte dell’Astore Centro Benessere- If you want to pamper yourself or just relax, you can visit this wellness center just 20 minutes from Longano. They offer massages, access to their thermal pools, and overnight stays!
Santuario Addolorata- Get to see some of what Molise has to offer by visiting this basilica built in the middle of the mountains of Castelpetroso, a town 20 minutes from Longano.
Archeology Site of Altilia- If you’re an Archeology lover you can go visit this site located about an hour from Longano in the city of Sepino, province of Campobasso. It has a lot of influence of Roman architecture to it due to the fact that it was conquered by the Romans in 239 BC.
